Text Box: SIEC – ISBE Post Tour August 4th 9:00am Leaving Waterford travel through county Wexford via the Blackstairs mountains to the picturesque village of Graiguenamanagh. Continue over the Wicklow Mountains to the 6th century monastic settlement of St Kevin at Glendalough, set against the backdrop of the glaciated valley of the two lakes. Learn about the arrival of Christianity and Ireland becoming known as the land of saints and scholars. From here continue to Ireland’s capital city - Dublin. Tonight you are free to explore the many pubs and restaurants of this cosmopolitan city. August 5th 10:00am Begin a guided tour of Dublin city, Ireland’s capital. Travel through the Georgian squares, home to many famous names in Irish history and the world stage. Continue to the Phoenix Park, the largest people’s park in Europe before returning along the city quays taking in many of the buildings embroidered in the tapestry of Irish history. The first visit of the day is to Dublin Castle, once the home of the English viceroys in Ireland and the seat of the English political power in occupied Ireland through many generations, now the home of the state apartments and Irelands hosting of the presidency of the European Union during its 6 month rotation. From here it’s onto St James Gate, the home of Ireland’s most famous tipple Guinness. Enjoy a tour of the Guinness Storehouse before finishing atop the building in the all glass gravity bar with its 360 degree views of Dublin while you sample your pint of the Black stuff. The remainder of your afternoon is free to explore the many museums and National Galleries on the doorstep of your hotel. Tonight we attend The Merry Ploughboys pub at the base of the Wicklow Mountains with dinner followed by traditional Irish music. Enjoy the ballads, Irish dance and music and listen to the stories behind the songs and musical instruments typical to Irish music. August 6th This morning transfers to Dublin airport for check in for your return flights home.
